Iran, Iraq making animated series on Daesh

The head of an Iranian production company says Iran and Iraq are making an animation on the Daesh Takfiri terrorists who overran vast swathes of the Arab country back in 2014 before their defeat.

The head of an Iranian production company says Iran and Iraq are making an animated series on atrocities committed by the Daesh Takfiri terrorists.

Head of Monadian media, art, and cultural company, Mehdi Jafari Jozani, told Tasnim News Agency this week that the institution signed a contract with an Iraqi TV channel last year to co-produce the animated series, without specifying the name of the station.

Noting that his company could have ensured the financial resources needed to produce the animation on its own, Jafari Jozani said that cooperation is aimed to get familiar with “the details of the Iraqi people’s life and eventually produce a film that suits their taste, and culture and lifestyle”.

Jafari Jozani, who is also animation and video game director and producer, further said that the co-production is a 52-episode animated series.

The series tells the story of a girl who was captured by Daesh after she had fallen from a pick-up truck carrying her family that was fleeing from a Daesh-held village.

Iraq declared victory over Daesh late in 2017 after a three-year counter-terrorism military campaign.

According to Jafari Jozani’s remarks, the animation is aimed to teach children “not to lose their spirit and remain hopeful even in the worst conditions” and to teach them that unity will help them expel the occupiers from their homeland.

The animation “is undergoing the production stage”, Jafari Jozani said, adding “the final stages of pre-production and dialogue-writing have almost been finished”.

He expects that two seasons of the series will be ready for broadcast by March.

Jafari Jozani stated that the animation will be made in Arabic, Persian, Turkish and English languages so it can be broadcast in different countries.
